Accreditation

We accredit a variety of educational programs, including Training, Business School Programs, e-Learning, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), that adhere to quality standards set by the US Department of Education and State and Local Authorities.

CHEQS Accreditation

The CHEQS Certification Board is European-accredited and holds ISO 9001 Certification for Quality and ISO 21001 Certification for Educational Standards. Our accreditation is globally recognized, as part of prestigious standards agreements both in the USA and internationally. This includes ACBSP Certification and alignment with the Arab Academy for over 20 Arab nations. We are also in academic alliance with the ACBSP National Business Accreditation Agency for certification standards worldwide.

The CHEQS Certification Board is a founding member of the Quality Assurance Standards Memorandum under the US Department of Education Recognized Body Quality Group, and holds SIS Certification, accredited by International Accreditation Services/Forums.

Our accreditation process aligns with international business standards set by organizations such as ISO, ESQ, TUV, ACBSP, EFMD, EQUIS, IACBE, AACSB, and the ABA (American Bar Association).

CHEQS International Accreditation Process

CHEQS is an ISO-sanctioned body, recognized under ISO 29993, 9001, and 21001, and owns over 100 certification programs and curriculum guides available to training and education providers globally.

ISO 29993 Standards apply to Learning Service Providers offering qualifications and charter designations. A program approved for ISO 29990 non-formal training certification meets CHEQS' rigorous accreditation standards.

Our accreditation process evaluates government-approved programs, licensing, and existing accreditation to ensure all CHEQS-accredited bodies offer comprehensive assessments for individuals within their courses. These courses must be from government-recognized bodies, accredited business schools, government-recognized licensing agencies, or qualified training programs.

Accreditation in the U.S.

The United States lacks a centralized Ministry of Education or a single federal authority overseeing postsecondary education. Instead, individual states hold varying degrees of control over education. As a result, U.S. educational institutions operate with significant independence, leading to variations in the quality of academic programs. Many institutions now focus on skills, certifications, specializations, and courses rather than requiring traditional diplomas or degrees.

In the U.S., accreditation arose as a method of non-governmental, peer evaluation of educational institutions and programs. Educational associations at regional and national levels adopt criteria for evaluating institutions to ensure they meet basic quality standards.

Key Functions of Accreditation and Quality Standards

  1. Verifying Compliance: Ensuring that institutions or programs meet established quality standards.

  2. Guiding Students: Helping prospective students identify accredited institutions.

  3. Transfer Credits: Assisting institutions in determining the acceptability of transfer credits.

  4. Funding: Identifying institutions for public and private investment.

  5. Protection: Safeguarding institutions from harmful internal and external pressures.

  6. Self-Improvement: Encouraging weak programs to set goals for improvement and raise standards across institutions.

  7. Faculty Involvement: Ensuring faculty and staff are involved in institutional evaluation and planning.

  8. Professional Standards: Establishing criteria for professional certification and licensure.

  9. Federal Assistance: Accreditation serves as a consideration for eligibility for federal assistance.

The Accreditation Procedure

  1. Standards: The accrediting agency collaborates with institutions to establish accreditation standards.

  2. Self-Study: The institution seeking accreditation prepares an in-depth self-evaluation against established standards.

  3. On-Site Evaluation: A team from the accrediting agency visits the institution to assess if it meets the standards.

  4. Publication: If the institution meets the standards, it is granted accreditation or pre-accreditation and listed with other accredited institutions.

  5. Monitoring: The accrediting agency monitors institutions throughout the accreditation period to ensure continued adherence to standards.

  6. Reevaluation: Periodic reevaluations ensure institutions continue to meet accreditation standards.
